During this unprecedented and ever-changing national emergency, Canal Insurance is mobilizing our remote work contingency plan and voluntarily closing our physical location effective at the close of business today through March 31st in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. ALL CANAL BUSINESS FUNCTIONS WILL REMAIN 100% OPERATIONAL.
We are well prepared for this circumstance, with work remote technology and capabilities established and tested. We believe proactive social distancing is the best and most responsible approach to promote employee welfare and protect the Greenville community, while continuing to provide reliable, consistent, constant customer service for the effective business continuity for our customers.
Canal stands firmly committed to the Motor Carrier industry, and our team is proud to support our customers moving freight and sustaining interstate commerce during this critical time of need. We will prevail together, and believe our time tested corporate values at Canal, including resilience and reliability, provide a solid core foundation of confidence, trust, and a paramount appreciation for safety and risk mitigation during this period of acknowledged uncertainty.

QTNA: Will truck stops and travel centers remain open amidst the COVID-19 pandemic?
Trucking remains a vital source to keep our country sustained during this national emergency, but there has been some confusion regarding whether or not truck stops and travel stations will remain open during these uncertain times.
As of right now, the majority of nationally operated travel centers remain OPEN with vital capacity. In addition, fuel supply is not currently an issue. These operations remain open for food, supplies, restrooms, and shower facilities, although certain restrictions are being implemented to ensure safe social distancing in common areas.

We hope this update finds you safe, protected, and well. Canal remains 100% operational on a remote basis through Week 2 of the COVID-19 emergency.
Our enterprise commitments remain positive and proactive, with fact rather than fear based perspective supporting our market responsiveness and customer service. Facts confirm that demand for freight in multiple sectors and geographies is surging, based on confirmation from several of our direct contacts in the freight brokerage community.
We understand that this may not be true for some commodities and regions, and Canal is prepared to support those insureds in need with parked vehicle arrangements and flexibility on reporting policy minimums. However, the current Canal headlines belong to the significant number of motor carriers we insure that remain on interstates providing heroic service to our nation moving critical freight at a critical time. This includes over 90% of our TestDrive customers who were rolling stronger than ever last week, based on their direct feedback received through our customer support efforts.
Canal is proud to provide service and product to our insureds that are proving to be so vital in helping America pull out of this crisis. #CanalInsurance #TruckingInsurance #COVID19
