    Position Description
    Job Summary: The Physical Damage Claims Adjuster position is responsible for the evaluation, negotiation and settlement of truck physical damage claims, including total losses.

    Major Accountabilities:
    1. Verify coverage as new losses are received.
    2. Appraise, negotiate, document and handle heavy truck and trailer (class 8 type) physical damage claims, including total losses, to conclusion within authority level.
    3. Communicate with interested parties as appropriate.
    4. Establish and maintain reserves and communicate with management, when appropriate.
    5. Monitor, with management consent, approved independent adjusters in the field.
    6. Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

    Position Requirements
    Qualifications:
    Education/Training Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience required. Adjuster’s license required.Experience/Specialized Skills: Minimum of five years heavy truck or body shop experience required.     Minimum three years experience investigating potentially fraudulent activity and/or fire and theft claims required. Advanced knowledge of SIU compliance laws and regulations required. Familiarity with basic insurance law, understanding of basic legal principles and terminology as it relates to insurance operations and knowledge of medical terminology and procedures required.
