Underwriting Unit Manager
The Underwriting Unit Manager position is responsible for the management of all business activities related to the profitable growth of policies.
Duties include:
- Providing overall team leadership and direction resulting in profitable underwriting and pricing of commercial trucking submissions.
- Managing underwriting unit to develop and enhance relationships with general agents. Acting as a company representative at agency meetings and industry events.
- Assisting with general agent evaluations.
- Assessing and implementing work processes within the team to ensure efficiency and productivity.
- Providing technical expertise for the unit.
- Providing supervision, coaching and counseling to assigned staff.
Candidates for consideration must have a Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience. Seven years property/casualty underwriting experience with an emphasis in commercial auto is required. Five years of management experience of an underwriting unit is required. Carrier, General Agency, or Retail Agency truck experience is preferred. CPCU designation is preferred.
Ideal candidates will have excellent communication, mentoring, teamwork, coaching, problem solving, and computer skills. The ability to multi-task and think creatively are a must.
