Underwriter

The Underwriter position is responsible for selecting, underwriting, pricing, and quoting non-fleet commercial automobile accounts, which are outside general agent’s underwriting authority.  This position is also responsible for processing endorsements, policy confirmations and participating in general agent underwriting reviews & audits.

 Duties include:

  • Underwrite and price new & renewal risks which are outside of general agent’s underwriting authority and communicate decisions effectively.
  • Validate agency underwriting data, coverage terms and conditions, driver info and quoted premium accounts.
  • Maintain agent relationships by expediting agency requests for service.
  • Share workloads and information effectively so as to best support agents as needed.
  • Perform underwriting reviews of policies quoted and bound within general agent’s underwriting authority.

Candidates for consideration must have a Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience.  A minimum of three years underwriting experience in commercial auto required with exposure to trucking operations preferred.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication, analytical, teamwork, problem solving, and computer skills.  The ability to multi-task and think creatively are a must.
