Accountant

The Accountant position is responsible for preparing financial reports and information for annual and quarterly statutory filings, general ledger input and balancing, submission of various reports to government agencies and the reporting and payment of premium declarations and annual filings to state agencies.

Duties include:

  • Prepare the Company’s (and affiliated Companies) monthly financial statements; including Statutory, GAAP and Consolidated financial reporting.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Perform tasks in support of reinsurance function; including reconciliation with general ledger, maintenance of reinsurance database, preparation of monthly reports and account settlements.
  • Prepare filings for various state and regulatory agencies to include state premium and income tax returns and respond to state inquiries, as appropriate.
  • Generate monthly general ledger journal entries, reporting and settlements for the special underwriting programs.
  • Coordinate information needed for audits by various financial and regulatory agencies.
  • Support annual budget process.
  • Identify changes related to regulatory reporting and statutory accounting standards and their impact on the Company.
  • Reconcile general ledger and clearing accounts to include cash applications for proper classification within the financial system.

Candidates for consideration must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.  A minimum two years of financial statement, statutory accounting or financial information experience is required.  Prior insurance industry experience is preferred.
